About the position

Under the leadership of the department director and the supervision of an RN, the Surgical Technologist is responsible and accountable for working intra-operatively in the preparation and handling of supplies and equipment to maintain a safe and therapeutic surgical environment for the patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad professional knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and handle surgical supplies and equipment during operations.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic surgical environment for patients.
  • Follow hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate quality of care and professional commitment.
  • Work collaboratively with the surgical team and maintain good public/customer relations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year scrub experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care hospital or multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center preferred.
  • Graduate of a surgical technologist training program strongly preferred.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.
