About The Position

Red Cedar TG is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and self-starting part-time Systems Support Specialist to join our team in O'Fallon, IL. Missing a certification for this position? The salary range for this position is $34.50-$36.75 hourly and is dependent on geographical location, qualifications, and experience. The Systems Support Specialist provides technical and functional system support for JOPES and TRANSVIZ operations, focusing on system monitoring, user account administration, troubleshooting, and operational support tasks. The Systems Support Specialist conducts routine monitoring and operational checks of JOPES and related systems to ensure synchronization and operational availability. These checks include monitoring system tools and identifying issues affecting system performance. Additionally, the Systems Support Specialist supports account management activities for JOPES and TRANSVIZ systems. The Systems Support Specialist also provides support activities such as: Data retrieval and reporting assistance Dashboard configuration for operational users Functional support during system demonstrations or testing Support for updates to geographic location data and transportation codes used by the system Ensure accurate operational planning data within TRANSVIZ and support the broader transportation planning mission.

Requirements

Must have an active Secret clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Additional relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge of operational planning systems and enterprise applications supporting DoD mission environments.
Experience supporting the operation, sustainment, and troubleshooting of mission-critical software applications used in operational planning or decision support environments.
Ability to diagnose and resolve system functionality issues affecting application performance, data availability, and user access.
Knowledge of system configuration management practices including maintenance of configuration baselines, version control, and documentation updates.
Experience supporting system upgrades, patches, and software releases, including installation, validation, and coordination with development teams.
Ability to analyze system performance, identify anomalies, and implement corrective actions to maintain system availability and reliability.
Experience supporting testing and validation activities for system enhancements, updates, and configuration changes prior to operational deployment.
Knowledge of system interoperability concepts and experience assisting with integration of applications across enterprise systems and data sources.
Ability to document system issues, technical procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support operational continuity and knowledge transfer.
Experience coordinating with engineers, developers, and Government stakeholders to resolve technical issues and implement system improvements.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices applicable to system administration, patch management, and secure system operation.
Ability to support vulnerability remediation and configuration updates required to maintain system security compliance.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to assess technical issues affecting mission systems and recommend effective solutions.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and operational personnel.
Superb organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple technical support tasks while maintaining system operational readiness.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment supporting operational mission systems.
Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and strong attention to detail when performing technical support activities.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required to support mission operations.
Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting operational planning or visualization tools used within the JOPES environment.
Prior experience supporting USTRANSCOM, Joint Staff, combatant command, or mobility mission systems.
Familiarity with command and control (C2) systems, transportation planning tools, or operational decision-support applications.
Experience supporting system integration across multiple data sources and operational systems.
Knowledge of enterprise architecture principles and system interoperability standards used within DoD environments.
Familiarity with configuration management tools and processes used to manage system changes and software releases.
Experience supporting operational system testing, validation, and deployment activities.

Responsibilities

Performing daily system status checks
Monitoring system performance and identifying degradation
Reporting operational issues and coordinating incident resolution
Supporting command coordination during outages and maintenance events
Creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts
Assigning role-based permissions aligned with organizational responsibilities
Identifying account anomalies and resolving access issues
Producing monthly account administration reports
Ensure proper access control and compliance with system security and operational policies.
