About the position

The mission of this role is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in the future. Success in this role is defined by the ability to develop and implement engaging lesson plans, monitor student growth, manage classroom behavior, and maintain open communication with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and differentiation for student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency and district policies.
  • Collaborate with other staff members for planning and implementing instructional goals.
  • Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and assessments for individual student needs.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
  • Monitor student achievement through formal and informal assessments.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to Board policies.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Engage in professional development activities correlated with teaching assignments.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all required reports and records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • ESL certification preferred for K-5 ELA, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Special Education.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Student teaching or approved internship experience.
  • Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with digital tools and resources for education.
  • Experience in modifying curricula for special education students.
