About the position

We have an opportunity for a Technical Product Owner to join our Berkley One team! Reporting to the IT Manager of Business Services, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and support organizations to analyze, design, and implement technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support the business objectives. This role can be based in our following office locations: Morristown, NJ; Wilmington, DE; New York, NY (Manhattan); or West Hartford, CT. We work in the office 4 days in the office, 1 day remote. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand the 'why' behind business needs and gather requirements that drive strategic value
  • Conduct detailed analysis of business processes and workflows
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications for IT solutions
  • Leverage data analytics to inform and refine requirements definition, ensuring data-driven decision-making
  • Work with cross-functional IT teams to design system solutions that not only meet business needs but also anticipate future requirements and scalability
  • Develop and document technical specifications and system architectures
  • Ensure solutions align with industry standards and best practices
  • Ensure solutions are implemented with a focus on user experience and long-term sustainability
  • Coordinate with development teams to implement system changes and enhancements
  • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure quality and functionality
  • Provide training and support to end-users on new systems and processes
  • Manage projects from inception through completion, ensuring timely delivery
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Prepare project documentation and reports for stakeholders
  • Manage projects with a product mindset, focusing on delivering value incrementally and iteratively
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to existing systems and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams to define requirements for insurance-related feature implementation
  • Robust technical background in system design and development
  • Ability to define and implement strategic support processes and solutions
  • Understanding of personal lines insurance products, processes, and regulations preferred
  • Proven negotiation skills to assess trade-offs and ensure ongoing alignment in priorities with stakeholders
  • Experience in defining success criteria for project implementation
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple ongoing implementations simultaneously
  • Exceptional analysis and problem-solving ability, with a proactive disposition
  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis skills
  • Experience with work management/ticketing solutions (ex. Jira)
  • Comfort with rapidly changing priorities, business needs, and conditions
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, a communication style flexible to the situation, and ability to communicate clearly and with a purpose
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, demonstrating integrity and follow-through on tasks, able to challenge the norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • A strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Natural curiosity, a love of learning how things work, and always on the lookout for innovative improvements

Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
  • Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
