About the position
We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join GDIT as a UI/UX 508 Developer. As part of our application development team your primary role will be to build and design customer friendly user interfaces with Section 508 compliance being the primary focus. You will implement strategies, evaluate products and build upon an infrastructure that supports the changing needs of our customers. You will collaborate with GDIT technical leadership, Government customers, and other key stakeholders to assess our existing and new systems infrastructure. You will work closely with our Security assessment team to make sure all architectural design meets agency policy and guidelines. You will then determine how best to update, upgrade, and reorganize our technology to create a lean, efficient Systems/Solutions Architecture capable of supporting our various projects and goals. You will maintain production application system architecture documentation throughout the life cycle of the application.
Responsibilities
- Support application user interface accessibility requirements by understanding and applying best practice and industry standard approached for meeting Section 508 and WCAG accessibility guidelines to application designs and development.
- UI/UX user centered and accessibility centered design with the ability to translate design into code effectively.
- Resolve complex software compatibility and interface design considerations.
- Research, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems or applications software.
- Research and integrate design strategies; product specifications; development schedules; and user expectations into product capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field; master's degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of corporate Systems/Solutions Architecture processes and trends.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with software development cycles.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- 3 years UI/UX development or design experience.
- Experience in full software development life cycle.
- Experience with cloud-native architecture and development in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience developing SQL and stored procedures with SQL Server (or other relational databases).
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Experience using MS Visio for updating diagrams.
- Ability to work independently and remotely.
