About the position

Join a dynamic engineering team focused on enhancing the Seller Experience and driving the growth of Walmart's Marketplace and Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). As part of Walmart e Commerce, you'll play a key role in reshaping the future of shopping by developing innovative solutions that impact millions of shoppers. Walmart Marketplace is a community of trusted sellers offering high-quality products and exceptional customer service which is an essential component of Walmart's growth strategy. Through WFS, sellers can leverage Walmart's advanced fulfillment infrastructure to streamline operations and improve delivery to customers. In this fast-paced, innovation-driven environment, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable solutions that push the boundaries of e Commerce and fulfillment, driving Walmart's digital growth. Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of senior engineering leaders and architects to design, build, and maintain the next-generation, multi-market technology platform for Marketplace and WFS on a global scale.
  • Collaborating with product, business, and operations leaders to define, prioritize, and execute the product and technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Building and nurturing a world-class engineering organization, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing senior architects and engineering leaders to foster a high-performing team.
  • Proactively identifying and addressing customer issues, ensuring continuous improvement in platform performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Cultivating a culture of innovation, platform thinking, and engineering excellence, driving continuous improvement in both product development and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 12 years of object-oriented programming experience in Java, Spring boot, Microservices, React, NestJS, Node.
  • Experience working on Azure SQL, Cosmos, Blob Storage, GCS, Hive, Apache Spark and Airflow.
  • Good understanding of Data Structures.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems design, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Programming experience preferably in the Finance/ retail / ecommerce industry.
  • Python knowledge would be an added advantage.
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, such as Open Stack, Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Expertise working in Agile Methodology.
  • Hands on experience using CI/CD, tools for logging and metrics.
  • A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment.
  • Expertise with being a core contributor to a software project: understanding domain and business requirements, being responsible for critical parts of the application.
  • Expertise working with logging and application monitoring stack: Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk etc.
  • Good communication skills, working in multi-team project.
  • A constant desire to improve, learn more, and take things to the next level, and a passion for adopting the latest features in the technologies that we leverage.
  • Experience in tools to improve the developer productivity in creating applications.
  • Experience in AI, Gen AI, LLM’s, creating chatbots, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
