About the position

The Idaho State University Office of Marketing and Communications seeks a motivated and creative individual to enhance visual storytelling by creating video and photo assets for use across all University platforms. Building on the existing voice, look and feel of University videography and photography, the Visual Media Manager will strategically plan and create video and photo assets for marketing, recruitment, fundraising, internal/external communications, and other projects for the University.

Responsibilities

  • Create video and photo assets for marketing, recruitment, and communications.
  • Utilize videography and photography to capture unique stories and activities.
  • Manage pre and post-production activities including script development and editing.
  • Oversee the photo and video studio for employee headshots.
  • Ensure timely and quality production of deliverables through workflow management.
  • Support communication across internal and external channels with multimedia production.
  • Consult with University clients to determine visual communication needs.
  • Manage a digital asset archive for public and internal use.
  • Collaborate with team members in the Office of Marketing and Communications.
  • Supervise the University videographer and coordinate project workloads.
  • Track trends and innovate approaches for visual storytelling.
  • Attend evening and weekend events and travel to outreach campuses as needed.
  • Oversee quality of work when engaging outside resources for services.
  • Obtain certification to operate unmanned aerial vehicles for capturing media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in photography, video production, visual media, or relevant field OR six years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in video production and photography.
  • Minimum of three years experience with video and photo editing software such as Adobe Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, and others.
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in photography, video production, visual media, or relevant field.
  • Five or more years of professional experience in video production and photography.
  • Five or more years experience with advanced video and photo editing software.
  • Experience coding scripts or using automation techniques in editing software.
  • More than three years supervisory experience.
  • One year experience and certification in operating unmanned aerial vehicles.
