About the position

Sompo has a unique opportunity for an VP, Data Product Lead for our Global Data Strategy team. The data product leader is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of governed, reusable datasets that enable business intelligence and advanced analytics. The role will work closely with business stakeholders, BI teams, IT, Data Quality and Data Governance to define, deliver and maintain certified datasets as trusted products that drive measurable value. Location: This position will be based out of our New York NY, Garden City NY, Purchase NY, Morristown NJ or Charlotte NC office. Responsibilities

  • Own the Data Product Lifecycle: define roadmap and success metrics for enterprise datasets, from initial discovery to retirement.
  • Dataset Certification & Governance: Ensure datasets meet enterprise data quality and governance standards; act as the point of contact for dataset certification.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, architects, governance teams and business analysts to design datasets that align with business needs and technical architecture.
  • User Enablement: Drive adoption of certified datasets through clear documentation, data dictionaries, and integration into BI/self-service tools. Advocate for data quality, integrity and usage across the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor dataset usage, performance and quality; incorporate feedback into future iterations.
  • Business Value Delivery: Prioritize datasets based on strategic business priorities and measurable value outcomes.
  • Standards & Best Practices: Champion reusable data assets and scalable patterns to accelerate delivery of future datasets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in data product management, data governance, or data architecture. 10+ years.
  • Experience with dimensional modeling, semantic layers, and enterprise data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with BI and analytics platforms (MicroStrategy, Power BI).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, governed data models.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, including data engineering, analytics and business units.
  • Experience with metadata management and data catalog tools (e.g. Collibra).
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Proficiency in Agile methodology and product lifecycle management.
