About the position

As the VP of Payments & Settlements Operations at ING Americas, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the expansion of the Operations team supporting US Transaction Services. In addition, this role will be the leading local expert for all matters related to establishing and maintaining relationships with ING's local regulators. This is a new position within an existing team and the successful candidate will create the processes and tooling from the ground up, leveraging existing solutions in the ING network. Once implemented, the primary responsibilities will be to maintain the effectiveness of these processes by balancing risk coverage while providing exemplary customer service to clients and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in internal and external audits as well as model validation efforts
  • Own and manage cash accounts & relationships ensuring effectiveness and efficiency
  • Serve as an SME for ING's banking relationships, with a deep technical understanding of 'how the process works', including data segmentation and data flows
  • Collaborate closely with the Compliance & Regulatory Departments of ING Americas and ING Group to translate policy requirements into concrete control requirements
  • Design and implement clear processes and instructions to ensure adherence to relevant internal & external policies
  • Oversee the end-to-end process from data delivery to transaction settlements and investigations, ensuring quality and performance
  • Work in close collaboration with ING Hubs in remote locations, Head Office in Amsterdam, Compliance and Regulatory teams, ING Group Tech, and Front Office/ Global Treasury teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years' experience with banking operations, regulations and industry best practices
  • Prior experience with cash account management and supervision, including a demonstrated track record of successful collaboration with US regulators
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced skills are beneficial
  • FINRA/SEC licensing (e.g. Series 99) is desirable
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: you excel in building new teams and supporting new products
  • Sound experience in building and executing strategic roadmaps
  • Tech savvy, where you anticipate and leverage innovations in digital and technical applications that make ING more effective in its fulfillment of compliance obligations
  • Able to act with a sense of urgency while maintaining composure and professionalism
  • Confidence to interface with senior stakeholders, both external and internal
  • Flexibility to work collaboratively and independently depending on the situation
  • Ability to manage and motivate staff; maneuver easily through complex policies, processes and people-related organizational dynamics across ING
  • Ability to coordinate projects and initiatives with limited supervision
