The High School French teacher will help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
Responsibilities
Know the subject(s) taught and how they are related to other subjects.
Teach the subject(s) from District-approved curriculum to students.
Assess student progress on a regular basis.
Plan lessons in a logical sequence.
Implement a variety of teaching methods that result in high student achievement.
Reflect on personal teaching performance and devise ways of improving it on an ongoing basis.
Collaborate with other educators to create a complete educational environment for students.
Know and appreciate various cultures and the larger global society and how to establish rapport with a diverse population of students and parents.
Know how and where to get needed information and how to educate students to seek and evaluate information.
Recognize and respond to individual differences in students.
Work cooperatively with colleagues, support staff and supervisors.
Display genuine love of teaching students (enthusiasm).
Implement inclusion techniques for special education students.
Differentiate instruction for variety of development stages and ability levels.
Write, speak and present well.
Develop critical thinking skills with students.
Relate to parents and other community members, individual and corporate, in a positive and helpful fashion.
Know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process and in communications.
Implement conflict management strategies for both adults and students.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to effectively supervise classrooms and hallways, protect equipment, materials and other facilities as needed.
Attend staff meetings and serve on staff or district committees as required.
Regularly maintain on file such seating charts, records, materials and current lesson plans to assist a substitute in maintaining the instructional program.
Keep confidential all matters pertaining to individual students or the school as required by law or dictated by professional ethics.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.
Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when requested and required under reasonable conditions.
Perform such other duties as may from time to time be required by the principal or superintendent.
Requirements
Montana secondary teaching license with French endorsement (06A FRE or 06S FRE) or ability to be certified by the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
