About The Position

We pursue a variety of technical focuses that spans multiple physical quantum computing platforms, quantum sensing, and more. We believe in fostering an open, collaborative work environment and have opportunities across technical domains to allow for exploration. As a Quantum Intern in the REDD Physics Group, you may: Investigate quantum algorithms, characterization protocols or error correction and management approaches. Help craft experiments for cloud or in-house quantum systems, and report findings to internal technical teams. Support existing programs through building noise models of quantum systems, iterative data acquisition, and analysis. Work collaboratively with other APL staff to identify emerging challenges with quantum solutions.

Requirements

Are pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or a PhD in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Have experience in scientific computation using Python or programming languages such as C/C++ and Java.
Are passionate about and capable of learning new technologies and test methods.
Work effectively in small, multi-disciplinary teams.
Have US citizenship or permanent resident status which is required to access APL's facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

Nice To Haves

Coursework or research experience in the field of quantum information science.
Experience with high-performance computing or simulation methods relevant for quantum science.
Familiarity with laboratory test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and vector network analyzers.
