About The Position

Are you passionate about developing the next generation of spacecraft systems? If you are pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a similar major and want to work in an exciting environment to solve challenging space exploration problems, we'd love to have you join our team. We are seeking an intern to join our Thermal/Mechanical Systems team. As a Thermal Engineer Intern and collaborative member of our team, your responsibilities may include... Requirements

  • Are pursing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or similar degree.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • To access APL’s facilities and networks, US Citizenship status is required, subject to applicable laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Have experience working in testing or hardware development.
  • Have experience in ThermalDesktop or ANSYS Fluent modeling software.
  • Have experience coding with Python, especially pandas and/or OpenPyXL.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the planning, setup, and execution of thermal tests.
  • Contributing to the thermal hardware installation planning and procedure development.
  • Contributing to thermal modeling and correlation to test data.
