FIG & Strategy NY Team Overview The Apollo FIG team invests in high priority strategic transactions across the financial services sector. The group is responsible for some of Apollo’s largest and most successful investments to date, including in Athene, Athora, Atlas SP, MidCap, Venerable, and Wheels. The team uniquely has access to every pool of capital at Apollo, including the Apollo/Athene balance sheet as well as Apollo funds across our private equity, hybrid value, and credit strategies. This flexible mandate and funding structure allows the team to invest at scale across the capital structure wherever the risk adjusted returns are most attractive. As a private equity analyst on the Apollo FIG team, you will primarily be focused on (i) Origination Platforms: acquiring, growing, and overseeing our portfolio of specialty finance platforms, as well as (ii) Insurance: creative transactions to grow Athene and our other insurance platforms both organically and through M&A/reinsurance. You will be working in small and nimble deal teams, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, cross-platform collaboration, and professional growth. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: At Apollo, we work as one team, partnering across regions and disciplines to share the perspectives and insights that lead us to exceptional opportunities. You’ll partner with junior and senior level professionals on a range of projects across the team. You will be responsible for helping acquire and grow strategically critical FIG businesses for Apollo, which drive an outsized share of our firm’s growth. Key responsibilities include:

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BA or BS (Class of 2027) degree from undergraduate institution with a record of academic achievement and a demonstrated interest in finance through previous internships, jobs, and coursework
  • The individual should have experience in financial services and/or FIG-specific experience
  • Basic understanding of modeling; including a familiarity with accounting
  • Strong analytical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively alongside senior members of the business and across the firm
  • A critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills who expresses their thoughts and ideas clearly both in oral and written communications
  • A collaborative thinker who can also work independently, multitask, and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive and organized self-starter with a positive attitude, powerful work ethic, strong attention to detail, and experience and comfort in Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Investment Analysis & Due Diligence: Conduct in-depth financial modeling, valuation, and sensitivity analyses across the capital structure
  • Assist in due diligence efforts, including market research, operational analysis, and risk assessment
  • Support the development of investment theses and deal structuring
  • Industry & Market Research: Analyze trends within the FIG sector, including regulatory developments, competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic factors
  • Monitor and evaluate potential investment opportunities and industry players
  • Deal Execution & Portfolio Management: Participate in all stages of the transaction process from sourcing to close
  • Assist in the preparation of IC memos and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with portfolio companies on strategic initiatives (incl. add-on acquisitions), financial performance tracking, and operational improvements
  • Coordinate with legal, tax, and other advisors on transaction execution
