About The Position

The 4-H Summer Assistant will assist the 4-H Educator and Assistant Educator in preparation for and the wrap-up of summer 4-H activities. The position does require some evening and weekend work and will be based in the Lennox facility.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• At least one year of previous South Dakota 4-H participation, Lincoln County 4-H experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must have an interest in/skill in working with young people and adults.
• Must possess strong computer, organizational, and people skills.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of at least one year of post-secondary education.
• Previous participation in Achievement Days.
• Working knowledge of South Dakota 4-H programming.

Responsibilities

• Work with the 4-H Educator and other staff in the planning & carrying out of tasks and responsibilities of the 4-H Program; some to include: Youth Development programming, Dog Show, Public Presentations, judging schools, Cloverbuds, 4HOnline & Fair Entry programs.
• Work with staff to ensure the success of Achievement Days by coordinating activities and materials, executing activities throughout the event, and wrapping up well to prepare for the State Fair.
• Help prepare projects for the South Dakota State Fair and additional state fair event preparation.
• Respond to community inquiries through in-person, email, and phone calls. Assist in the administrative responsibilities of the department.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned.
