About The Position

Ashland Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to serve as a Long-Term Substitute for 6th Grade Social Studies for the remainder of the school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and ensuring continuity of learning for students during the teacher’s leave.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and meeting the needs of diverse learners

Nice To Haves

  • degree in History, Education, or related field preferred
  • Massachusetts teaching license in History/Social Studies (5–8) preferred
  • Experience working with middle school students preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily Social Studies instruction aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks
  • Implement existing curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional materials
  • Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor and assess student progress and provide timely feedback
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades in Aspen
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and related service providers
  • Uphold all school and district policies and expectations
