Huntsville-Madison County 9-1-1 is seeking qualified people to join its team of dedicated 9-1-1 Calltakers. As a 9-1-1 Calltaker, you'll be the first link between people in crisis and the emergency services they need. Every call matters - and so will you. As a Calltaker, you'll work in a state-of-the-art facility, use cutting-edge technology, and receive extensive training designed to help you succeed. You'll learn multiple systems, protocols, and processes, pass exams, and earn certifications. You won't do it alone. Your trainer/mentor will guide you in learning the many components of 9-1-1 calltaking, including proper techniques for communicating with callers during highly emotional and stressful emergencies. And, you'll earn pay increases for training milestones! The schedule for Calltakers is unique. You'll be assigned to day (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) or night (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) shift based on where there is an opening. Your training shift may differ from the shift you're assigned once you're a certified Calltaker. Regardless of shift, you'll work 3 days one week and 4 the next (with eight hours of overtime pay!)
