About The Position

The Staff Engineers report to the Director of Maintenance and are responsible for managing and coordinating all Engineering support-related matters for the Technical Operations and all technical issues related to configuration management, airframe repairs and modifications, and technical document amendments.

Requirements

  • High School equivalency and a four (4) year Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace/Aeronautical) from an accredited university or equivalent work experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and current FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate preferred.
  • Five (5) years of trouble-shooting aircraft systems, avionics, and power plant systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, Boeing, and other manufacturers maintenance and repair procedures required.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, and TRAX preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with analysis of airframe repairs and engine condition monitoring preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Gas Turbine engines and troubleshooting practices preferred.
  • Engine Condition monitoring and specialized training from Boeing performance Engine-software course, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Rockwell Collins, or other OEM preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Executes documentation and reviews for all matters pertaining to Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Service Letters (SLs), and Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) mandates.
  • Provides 24/7 support during line and check maintenance, AOG, and heavy maintenance visits by coordinating with maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, external organizations and engineering departments.
  • Develops and implements master compliance plans and programs for airframe, avionics, and system modification and configuration control; coordinates directly with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), supplemental type certificate (STC) holders, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
  • Manages maintenance technical data necessary for compliance by the company to stay within regulatory and OEM compliance through reviewing requests and providing assessments for approval and justification.
  • Serves as a liaison for engineering-related matters with the FAA and Airlines for America (A4A). Reviews all issued ATA/A4A, Maintenance & Engineering, and AD Memos, and prepares responses that reflect the company’s position.
  • Evaluates all ADs issued and implements compliance through company approved procedures.
  • Reviews Notice of Proposed Rulemakings (NPRMs), ADs, Final Rules, Time-Limited Repairs, and Major Repairs to determine applicability and initiates the AD Compliance Flow.
  • Evaluates all manufacturer SBs, SLs, and Maintenance & Engineering publications regarding design modifications.
  • Oversees the development of avionics and system modifications to enhance fleet reliability and standardization of aircraft configuration.
  • Authors engineering projects, repairs, and develops technical data to support aircraft operations and coordinates the dissemination of technical requirements among maintenance personnel for their assessment and review.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Planning to ensure compliance to mandated inspections, repairs, and alterations for aircraft and systems.
  • Facilitates technical assistance for Maintenance, Quality, Reliability, Aircraft Records, and Maintenance Training as required.
  • Prepares and coordinates engine and APU repair, modification, and inspection work specifications, including Maintenance Task Cards and Forms.
  • Submits service requests to the OEM, and obtains Designated Engineering Representative (DER) approvals to support repair proposals and modifications.
  • Evaluates repair and modification proposals submitted by contract and MRO structural engineers prior to implementation and in accordance with approved Engineering procedures and processes.
  • Substantiates, authors, and issues work instructions to support the accomplishment of major and minor structural repairs per industry accepted practices, OEM approved methods, and FAA requirements.
  • Conducts stress analysis, damage assessments, and develops repair procedures and modifications.
  • Shall be responsible for additional duties as assigned.
