About The Position

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking an Accelerated Weathering & Corrosion Lab Technician to join the Test Services team in Homestead, FL. This position will be responsible for performing visual and corrosion evaluations, various physical and chemical tests, routine specimen rotations, and evaluating/documenting results and log sheets. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience with a strong emphasis on science
  • Solid computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with the ability to create, copy, and move files.
  • Ability to read and understand complex instructions and possess a moderate level of technical skills to understand, operate and maintain Q-Lab testing equipment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with standards and test procedures is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Check in new tests and mount and expose test specimens
  • Maintain test log sheets
  • Change lamps in QUV and Xenon chambers and standardize lamps and sensors
  • Perform routine specimen rotations and daily machine patrols
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on QUV, Q-FOG and Q-SUN chambers and repair test equipment as needed
  • Provide customer service via email or phone calls and contact customers to clarify test details
  • Perform visual and corrosion evaluations, various physical and chemical tests, and evaluate the results
  • Prepare electrolyte solutions
  • Prepare and organize the daily work schedule, as needed
  • Provide technical reviews, as necessary
  • Act as a Calibration Technician for internal calibrations
  • Maintain the machine availability log
  • Maintain the pending list for new tests
  • Monitor DI water system and compressor function
  • Perform general lab housekeeping
  • Other tasks as necessary or required
