Requirements

  • Technical school, equivalent college courses, or on the job experience.
  • Five – ten years’ electrical experience with emergency backup electrical systems including generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Manual Transfer Switches (MTS) and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) equipment.
  • SCTE - Critical Facilities Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning certification or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of air conditioning systems and working knowledge of common state and local fire codes.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety best practices.
  • General proficiency in office software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with manufacturers, vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required as well as 24 hours standby when needed.
  • Clean and valid Driver’s License with ability to travel to other work locations as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Desired 2 years physical onsite Data Center experience supporting the Data Center equipment and/or infrastructure (Power, Space, Cooling, Equipment and Cabling)

Responsibilities

  • Acts as first point of contact in response to major alarms / outages.
  • Develop, maintain and inspect appropriate preventative maintenance plans for emergency generator components and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and its components.
  • Ensure the overall growth for the Headend is monitored in relation to critical load on electrical equipment and panels.
  • Collaborate with other Critical Infrastructure Technicians for quality assurance and mediating deficiencies and monitor the quality of vendors to mediate deficiencies to Altice standards regarding large scale equipment installations, overhauls, preventative maintenance and with the more complicated tasks as required.
  • Engage contractors when needed.
  • Coordinate tasks with other departments and vendors, to ensure a smooth project workflow and minimizing customer impact.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to verify the equipment and processes are being maintained properly.
  • Assist in the service and maintenance of Data Center electrical equipment, which includes generators, automatic transfer switchers and manual transfer switches (ATS and MTS), uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and power distribution units (PDUs) as well as Data Center HVAC equipment.
  • Monitor building standards and verify building code compliance, working with management and engineering mechanics to ensure that all building code issues and upgrades are identified and addressed with Management team.
  • Assist in the development and when needed the implementation of disaster recovery plans.
  • Work with management to identify equipment requirements for expansion and growth within the Data Centers.
  • Work with managers and engineering firms when necessary for the development of specification and drawings, provide detail / data on existing equipment and their functionality.
  • Perform overnight scheduled and on-demand maintenance work in the headend, hubs and Optical Transport Network (OTN) sites as needed.
