About The Position

Make your mark on the future of ArcGIS. Join the ArcGIS Enterprise portal team as an Accessibility Web Developer. We're looking for a collaborative front-end developer who is passionate about creating inclusive experiences. You'll work across a variety of supported applications to tackle accessibility challenges throughout the software development life cycle. This will include both remediation projects and envisioning proactive strategies and initiatives to meet evolving customer needs. Your expertise and communication skills will be key to increasing capacity, sharing knowledge, and ultimately building more inclusive, accessible systems. In this role, you'll be a crucial support in ensuring our products are usable for all our customers, regardless of ability.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and delivering web applications
  • Experience using and developing applications with JavaScript toolkits and UI frameworks/libraries (such as React, Vue, Angular, jQuery, Dojo, and more)
  • Extensive experience with HTML, DOM, CSS, event model, and cross-browser development
  • Experience with JSON and REST
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, verbal and written communication, design, development, and debugging skills
  • Ability to work independently and in groups to effectively participate in the software development life cycle
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA requirements and ARIA patterns
  • Understanding of keyboard and screen reader accessibility
  • Experience remediating accessibility issues found in product audits

Responsibilities

  • Address accessibility issues found by external and internal testers
  • Proactively support the development of more accessible web applications and UI modules throughout the product
  • Collaborate with development team to share knowledge of accessibility development and testing practices
  • Apply good software design and development practices in daily activities
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Participate in agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning, standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
