About The Position

As the Accounting Director with the Better Business Bureau, you will report directly to the CEO and manage the Accounting Administrator and all accounting activities for the organization. You and your staff will be responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation. You will establish controls and guidelines and oversee the preparation and production of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and periodic financial reports ensuring that results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. You will also coordinate tax planning and returns preparation with the company’s CPA firm and conduct and coordinate audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their exposure to all areas of accounting with a big-picture focus. To be successful in this role you will need to be hands-on and knowledgeable in all areas of accounting and have a strong ability and desire to lead and mentor a small team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration.
  • 5 + years of progressively responsible financial management experience required, Nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of management and supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting 3rd party audits and reviews.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and Online software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Business.
  • Financial stewardship and accountability.
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards and professional integrity.
