Who we are looking for: ASCO is seeking an Accounting Intern to join the accounting team in gaining hands-on experience in financial operations, reconciliation, and the full accounting cycle within a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This immersive internship offers meaningful project work, dedicated mentorship, and experiential learning that will directly support financial operations and help drive efficiency. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
  • Pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, information technology or related field
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred); proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
  • Willingness to enhance skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform, review, and analyze assigned general ledger accounts
  • Participate in month-end closing process and perform tasks as assigned
  • Support the team with cash reconciliations and work related to the Oracle cash management module
  • Support the team with variance analysis and work with other teams to analyze discrepancies
  • Other reporting and administrative activities as needed.

  • This summer internship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked.
