About The Position

Manage financial execution and financial reporting of Turner Construction Company Foundation (“Foundation”) and related fundraising events. Perform daily tactical project accounting, cash flow management, forecasting, cost analysis, compliance, and internal controls. Primary financial contact for Foundation team to confirm alignment between Foundation event stakeholders and financial procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program in accounting or related field, with minimum of 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting, billing, receivables, collections, financial cost control, cashflow management, forecasting, budget audits, and reporting procedures
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract language
  • Knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods
  • In-depth experience with financial oversight, monitoring, and strategic financial planning and modeling skills
  • Experience with professional financial writing and review of Board level communications and documentation
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and summarize issues, recommend corrective actions, and influence decision-making
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail
  • Strong dedication to integrity with ability to maintain discretion of confidential and sensitive information
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritize multiple complex and demanding tasks and priorities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee management of Turner Construction Company Foundation (“Foundation”) accounting functions, processes, policies, compliance, and accounting staff.
  • Foster supportive environment to develop Foundation team members, engage in Acting Caring, and identify individual development needs and opportunities for career growth.
  • Manage preparation, review, and secure approval of year-end Foundation financial statements.
  • Manage proper state registrations and licensing for fundraising events.
  • Oversee and manage event transactions, and accounting receipts and disbursements, and address and resolve issues.
  • Accounting for consultant invoices in operational support of the Foundation, and address and resolve issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and process employee grants and office-level giving.
  • Manage/oversee accounting activities for event transactions, including reconciling fundraising events’ receipts (e.g., credit card, check) with grants paid and ensure accurate and timely distribution of funds.
  • Conduct reviews and secure approvals of supporting documentation for grant check requests (e.g., W9, 990 Form).
  • Reconcile Turner employee donations and receipts in donation system.
  • Prepare and report Donor Restricted Funds and Fundraising Financial Data to Foundation leadership, in alignment with Charter Agreement.
  • Oversee tracking and forecasting of Turner Philanthropic team G&A.
  • Develop financial data to support Environmental Social Governance (ESG) reporting.
  • Review event budgets for accuracy and proper reflection of risks and impacts of potential enhancements, in line with Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Lead implementation of financial audits, contribute and support external and Internal Review audits.
  • Identify and communicate financial risks that impact Foundation performance and earnings; align with Foundation team on mitigation strategy and hold team accountable to action plan.
  • Oversee and confirm compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and event contract-specific financial requirements.
  • Contribute financial information, issues, and recommendations for Board, Steering Committee, other meetings, and annual reporting, and other financial health checks.
  • Review Foundation financial processes, cost coding, and forecasting practices for continuous improvement and to recommend enhancements to tools, templates, and workflows that improve financial visibility and accuracy.
  • Contribute to forecasting process with Foundation leadership team.
  • Supervise other Foundation Financial team members, participate in hiring process, onboard new team members, deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports, contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
  • Facilitate specific training on Foundation financial systems, processes, and compliance standards to relevant teams and stakeholders.
