Were growing fast and we want you to grow with us. Accounting Manager Job Summary SmartStop Self Storage is looking for an experienced, dedicated Accounting Manager to join our team. This position reports to the Director of Accounting and is responsible for managing the monthly property financial statement close process for approximately 75 self-storage properties, supervising 3 - 5 property accountants, maintaining internal controls, treasury, and internal/external reporting. Location: This position will be ON-SITE in our beautiful Ladera Ranch, CA corporate office. Salary range: $98,000 - $110,000 depending on experience + annual discretionary bonus.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration or comparable work experience.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success managing a team.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills a must.
  • Be detailed oriented while multi-tasking in a fast-paced company.
  • Must be hands-on and work effectively in a demanding environment
  • Be able to adapt quickly to change

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in real estate accounting a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the preparation of the monthly financial statement close process and property level reporting.
  • Manages the assigned property accounting staff.
  • Coordinates and reviews monthly reporting from property accountants.
  • Assists with Treasury responsibilities for all banking institutions.
  • Supports integration of new property acquisitions.
  • Coordinates and assists with external financial statement audits.
  • Assists in the coordination of all property tax payments.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries and account reconciliations, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of internal reports for variance analysis.
  • Prepares supplemental financial schedules.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Reviews quarterly property level debt compliance reports.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
