Job Summary The Accounting Supervisor oversees daily and monthly accounting operations while providing hands‑on support in key transactional areas. This role manages the monthly close process, prepares financial statements, supervises accounts payable, payroll, and financial analysis functions, and supports accounts receivable and credit activities. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and capable of balancing supervisory responsibilities with active participation in day‑to‑day accounting tasks. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with parent/sister companies.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, organized spreadsheets).
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills—clear, tactful, and professional.
  • Proactive problem‑solver with strong follow‑through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and positive team player.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Visual acuity to read and interpret data on screens and documents.
  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and SOX requirements.
  • Willingness to work overtime during month‑end or other peak periods.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Close & Reporting Manage the monthly closing cycle, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and consolidated reports for parent companies.
  • Compile and deliver financial metrics and analysis for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, SPI’s, and Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Assist with tax and financial reporting requirements as needed.
  • Supervision & Team Leadership Supervise the Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Financial Analysis functions.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management for team members.
  • Cross‑train staff to ensure adequate coverage across accounting functions.
  • Serve as a resource for problem‑solving and process improvement.
  • Accounts Receivable & Credit Oversight Support A/R and credit management activities, including: Reviewing customer creditworthiness Maintaining credit files Overseeing cash application Monitoring and collecting past‑due accounts Managing shipment holds/releases based on credit status Handling claims, credits, and international invoicing
  • Accounts Payable, Payroll & Expense Management Oversee processing of vendor invoices, weekly check runs, and payment accuracy.
  • Review and validate employee time, project expenses, and corporate credit card statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing through supervision of payroll staff.
  • Retirement Plan (MERP) Administration Process weekly MERP changes and bi‑weekly reconciliations with the external administrator.
  • Prepare annual MERP reporting for matching and discretionary contributions.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Support Act as a liaison with administrative departments at sister and parent companies.
  • Provide backup support for other accounting and I.T. functions as needed.
  • Participate in special projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive, team‑oriented attitude and strong follow‑through on all tasks.
