About The Position

This Accounting Technician position will perform accounting steps on desk audit programs for approximately 700 annually filed Medicaid cost reports of long-term care providers. These steps include, but are not limited to verification of provider name & address, historical provider number, NPI, any changes of ownership, verification of supporting documentation, reconciliation of cost report expenses to the provider’s working trial balance, reconciliation of patient days, review of capital data survey and reconciliation of provider tax. From this review, the Technician prepares a list of findings and exceptions for further review by Auditor and/or field audit staff, drafts preliminary adjustments regarding patient days and provider tax for the Auditor review. Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, state Medicaid policies, and approved payment methodologies. Review providers cost reports to prepare provider cost settlements and prepare workbooks and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of accounting/auditing experience in the preparation of interpretive or analytical accounting/financial statements and reports; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other field from an appropriately accredited institution with twelve (12) semester hours in accounting and two (2) years of experience as specified above; or
  • Associate’s degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and four (4) years of experience as specified above; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
