About The Position

The Active Adult Program Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the JCC’s Alzheimer’s Care & Enrichment (ACE) Program and Active Adult Programs for adults 60+. This position works closely with the Active Adults Program Director and Assistant Director to create a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for participants, while providing meaningful respite for caregivers through ACE and supporting Active Adult Programs at the JCC when ACE is not taking place. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, consistent, flexible, and energized by building relationships with older adults, volunteers, and intergenerational partners.

Requirements

  • College degree with a focus on gerontology or social work
  • Ability to consistently communicate clearly and respectfully in both oral and written communication.
  • Experience working with older adults; experience with dementia or memory care strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates compassion, patience, and empathy in all interactions.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic program environment.
  • Exhibits adaptability and flexibility in response to participant and program needs.
  • Dependable and attentive to daily responsibilities and follow-through.
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Adult CPR & First Aid Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with participants during all daily activities, following the guidance of the Program Director and Assistant Director.
  • Provide kind, respectful assistance to participants, including support with restroom use and daily needs.
  • Support daily program operations including, but not limited to, assisting with meal preparation from gathering supplies and preparing food to supporting participants during meals; and ensure that food items, supplies, and activity spaces are properly stored.
  • Communicate participants need to volunteer and kindly guide them in best practices alongside program leadership.
  • Meet regularly with the Active Adults team to address participant needs and support individualized care.
  • Support intergenerational programming between the Early Childhood Center (ECC) and Active Adult Program by encouraging participation and connection.
  • Successfully lead the ACE group with volunteers when the ACE program director is out of the office.
  • Support Active Adult programs when not engaged in ACE programming, helping to foster social, cultural, and physical engagement.
  • Assist with program setup, transitions, and breakdown, and remain present during all program hours.
  • Actively collaborate with the Program Director and Assistant Director to develop and introduce new program ideas.
  • Shop for groceries and program supplies as needed (valid driver’s license required).
  • Responsible for administrative tasks such as maintaining RSVP lists, attendance sheets and ride share expenses.
