About The Position

As an Actuary in Guardian’s Student Program, you will develop a thorough understanding of our products and how your job responsibilities contribute towards achieving the goals of Guardian. You will assist in performing financial and non-financial analysis and make recommendations consistent with Guardian’s goals regarding growth and profitability. As part of the Student Program, expect to rotate departments every 18 to 24 months, providing the opportunity for a breadth of experience. You are A self-starter who is fueled by collaboration, able to transform conceptual thinking into executable insights, who thrives in diving into business problems and using data to make decisions. Close to achieving the Actuarial Associate designation in the Society of Actuaries.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Prior work experience in the actuarial field.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, without the need for employer sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience modeling in AXIS is a plus.
  • Understanding of the interaction between assets and liabilities in actuarial models would be advantageous.
  • VBA and other programming knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of improvement regarding procedural and/or technical aspects of projects
  • Complete assignments on time and according to specifications provided by your supervisor
  • Strive towards completion of such assignments as independently as possible, recognizing situations where managerial guidance is needed
  • Actively seek and take on additional challenges to grow and develop professionally
  • Use internal and external data sources to better understand industry trends, clients, competitors, and the regulatory environment
