About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Actuarial Intern to support our Corporate Actuarial team. This internship provides hands‑on exposure to the analytics that drive key decisions in the annuity and retirement product space. The role focuses on experience studies, assumption development, and data-driven insights across longevity, persistency, utilization, and other key actuarial metrics. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with strong analytical skills and an interest in the complex and evolving world of annuity and retirement products. Mutual of America’s Summer Internship Program provides college students with hands-on corporate experience working with meaningful projects and assignments. Requirements

  • Only accepting rising Sophomores (grad year May 2029) and rising Juniors (grad year May 2028).
  • Must have a minimum overall 3.4 GPA.
  • Must be able to commute to NYC 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday)

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward actuarial credentials (at least one exam passed preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Support experience studies related to annuities and retirement products, including:
  • Mortality and longevity analysis
  • Lapse/persistency studies
  • Withdrawal and income‑utilization behavior
  • Surrender and partial withdrawal patterns
  • Perform data extraction, cleaning, and validation using large policy‑level datasets.
  • Apply statistical and actuarial techniques to evaluate experience and support assumption-setting for pricing, valuation, and risk management.
  • Assist in updating and automating experience study processes using SQL, R, Python, or Excel.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to convey findings to actuarial leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and results clearly and consistently for audit and review.
  • Collaborate with valuation, pricing, and risk teams to ensure alignment with enterprise‑wide annuity and retirement assumptions.
