Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market-driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. Compiles, analyzes, and develops essential statistical data for current and future actuarial studies. Assists in the performance of financial projections and actuarial analysis for one or more well-defined projects. Typically holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science and belongs to the Society of Actuaries with the designation of ASA (Associate).

  • Experience: 5 or more years of actuarial experience
  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or mathematics and holds ASA and/or FSA.

Responsibilities

  • Pricing Support: Become a point person for senior level staff and management with regard to rate filings/pricing exercises. Complete pricing exercises independently and draw conclusions from the work and offer suggestions/solutions. Verify the accuracy of the work produced.
  • Forecasting Support: Become a point person for senior level staff and management with regard to completing the company forecast. Understand all of the pieces that go into the forecast and what resources to use to gather the necessary information. Analyze results and verify the accuracy of them and propose suggested changes/enhancements.
  • Reserve Support: Become a point person for senior level staff and management with regard to completing the monthly reserve process. Take ownership of setting reserve cells and run reports that result from the process. Verify the accuracy of results and offer solutions.
  • Data Analytics: Be able to analyze and Summarize data gathered by lower-level staff for the three core actuarial functions. Be able to quickly diagnose issues and draw conclusions from the analytics produced and verify their accuracy. Offer suggestions/solutions when needed.
  • Management Reporting: Complete management reports in a timely manner to meet deadlines. Be able to verify the accuracy of these reports and make necessary updates to when needed. Be able to quickly diagnose problems and offer suggestions/solutions.
  • Mentoring/Developing: Begin to develop mentoring skills. Help to teach lower-level employees core actuarial principles.
  • Actuarial Exams: ASA and/or FSA
