About The Position

The RN renders collaborative nursing care via Patient Coordinated Care to caseload of patients for an assigned shift in accordance to the medical staff practitioner’s treatment plan, nursing standards of care/practice, and professional code of ethics. The RN is committed to promoting the health potential of the patient (body-mind-spirit) through the implementation of the nursing process. Demonstrates ability to delegate appropriately and direct staff in the coordination and delivery of care; assumes responsibility for the appropriate utilization of care resources; demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in problem resolution, is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and fellow employees. Job Relationships: 1. Reports directly to Acute/ Sub Acute Services Department Director of Nursing and MedSurg ICU Manager. 2. Reports indirectly to the House Supervisor and other management covering the department. 3. Takes daily direction from the Shift Charge Staff Member. 4. Collaborates with all members of the Health Care Team in the coordination of patient care. 5. Delegates and directs coordination of care on assigned shift, working with caseload team which may be comprised of LVN’s and CNA’s Occupational Hazards: Works in the general hospital setting. May be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissues as well as patients in varying stages of infectious states.

Requirements

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with NIHD staff and the public
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with NIHD staff at all levels as well as the public
  • Develop and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgement.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to instruct/comfort patients/families; to maintain effective communication/contact with healthcare team members
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to prioritize workload and prepare nursing care plans, implement effective nursing care and develop solutions to problems concerning patient’s body, mind and spirit
  • Ability to learn Computer software programs applicable to patient care and operations process.
  • Graduate of School of Nursing
  • Current California State License as a Registered Nurse required
  • BLS upon hire and on-going
  • PALS/ACLS within 3 months of hire and on-going
  • Telemetry within 1 month of hire and on-going

Nice To Haves

  • On the job experience Preferred, but Clinical experience from accredited Nursing Program is acceptable. As determined by department orientation requirements in order to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of department specific standards
  • BSN/BA preferred
