We are currently seeking an ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER to join our team of passionate and dedicated professionals. Bilingual and bicultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree is required
Current MA Special Education certification in Physical Education is required
Red Cross Life Guard Certification or a willingness to obtain the current certification is required

Nice To Haves

Academic concentration or teaching experience in Adapted Physical Education is preferred

Responsibilities

Plans and runs physical education classes for small groups of students, making adaptations for each student’s learning and motor needs
Evaluates students’ physical education needs, develops goals and objectives for student Individual Education Plans, and measures progress toward objectives
Coordinates the purchase of sport and fitness equipment for school and residences and oversees proper use and maintenance
Collaborates with therapists (OT, PT, SLP) and educators to provide physical education that is adapted to each student’s ability level
Collaborates with another APE-Aquatics Teacher to help develop and run programs in our new Aquatics and Fitness Center
Provides staff development related to supporting fitness and leisure for students
Supports a fun and active environment for staff and students through the physical education program and school-wide events!
