The ‘Adaptive Rides Coordinator’ will organize adaptive wheelchair tricycle rides in Acadia National Park for visitors with mobility challenges in collaboration with MDI Wheelers. The MDI Wheelers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit created to help more people from the community get out on Acadia’s carriage roads with adaptive tricycles, driven by well-trained volunteers. The MDI Wheelers offer multiple adaptive tricycle rides each week on the carriage roads on Thursday and Friday mornings during the summer. The rides are open to the public and require preregistration. The Adaptive Rides Coordinator will facilitate the coordination and organization of these rides. The incumbent is not required to ride tricycles or bicycles but will have the opportunity if interested. The MDI Wheelers and Friends of Acadia are partnering to increase access to Acadia by hiring this position to facilitate adaptive rides. Friends of Acadia (FOA) is the non-profit partner to Acadia National Park and is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming space for visitors, volunteers, and staff from all backgrounds and lived experiences.
