The School of Professional Studies is seeking an adjunct instructor to develop and teach the new course Facilities & Equipment Management for the Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences. The course will be offered in an online, synchronous, semester-based format geared toward part-time, adult undergraduate students. The course will introduce students to the foundational concepts and practical considerations of facilities and equipment management across the biopharmaceutical industry, distinguishing between the needs of research and development (R&D) laboratories and biomanufacturing operations and focusing on the critical role these functions play in ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and product quality. Through virtual case studies, interactive modules, and industry-focused examples, students will learn about the life cycle of facilities and equipment in both sectors. The course will cover topics such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) versus current Good Manufacturing Practices cGMP regulations, equipment qualification and validation, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Upon completion, students will have the foundational knowledge and critical thinking skills required to succeed in entry-level roles in the biopharmaceutical industry. The instructor will add their subject matter expertise and real-world examples, partnering with MCPHS leaders to ensure content is relevant to employers. As part of the course development process, the instructor will partner with a project manager and instructional design manager. The instructor will play an important role in the continuous improvement and overall success of the course. This role is crucial in establishing the foundation of the Bachelor of Science program, directly impacting its quality and future success. The instructor will help shape the learning experience for our students and will contribute to the growth of this exciting new academic offering.
