About The Position

Adjunct Faculty Social Work The Undergraduate & Graduate School UMGC Europe Locations: Lakenheath, Mildenhall, United Kingdom University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in the United Kingdom for the Social Work program. This position is a field-focused, practice-based role supporting students in their field placements. Responsibilities include experiential instruction, supervision support, and applied mentorship tied to CSWE field education outcomes, rather than traditional classroom-based course instruction. The social work program is a CSWE accredited program offered by Salisbury University and administered by UMGC Europe. Faculty are approved by Salisbury University and hired by UMGC Europe. Faculty teach in both face-to-face and in an online environment using Canvas Learning Management System.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning as well as hold an active LCSW.
  • At least two years post-master’s degree professional experience in the Social Work field.
  • Local applicants only.
  • Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.

  • Each new faculty member is required to successfully complete our online new faculty orientation, FacDev 122, as a condition of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.

  • If selected, candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
