About The Position

Newport News, Virginia Overview The Adjunct Lecturer (AL) is responsible for clinical and laboratory supervision and the evaluation of students for the delivery of both residential and distance education courses. The AL is accountable for student outcomes and acts as a resource for students providing support, remediation, and referral as needed. The AL shall maintain professional competence in their specific discipline through such activities as practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects, and professional writing. The AL participates in community and institutional service activities which contribute to the mission of RHS and RCHC. Essential functions are fundamental job duties, knowledge, skills and abilities that are necessary to perform the position. For all College Instructor and Staff positions, standards are intended to apply to all educational delivery methods residential, blended and/or distance as feasible. What you will do Demonstrates activities in the support of learning including instructional design, delivery (both residential and distance delivery methods), assessment, course and student management, and academic advising. Completes required instructional scholarly activity & professional development to including 2 activities related to Distance Education, 2 activities in the instructor’s professional discipline, 2 activities directly related to teaching, and 1 activity related to instructional simulation (not applicable to RN-to-BSN faculty). Accountable for program, student, and graduate outcomes for course pass rates.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree, In the Allied Health Profession of hire, Education, or related field (Required)
  • Program Graduate, In the Allied Health Profession of hire (Required)
  • 3-4 years Recent (within last 5 years) clinical experience or teaching in the specified clinical field or a combination of the two prior to hire date (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
  • Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical educational setting
