About The Position

Texas A&M University–Kingsville invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Horn. This position involves teaching applied horn lessons to undergraduate students (freshman through senior levels), with a teaching load of up to 15 weekly applied lessons, depending on studio needs and enrollment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in music (or a closely related field) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in music.
  • Strong foundation in horn pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of horn literature, including etudes, orchestral excerpts, solo, and chamber repertoire.
  • Excellent organizational and record‑keeping skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to student success and retention.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience teaching applied horn lessons at the collegiate level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach weekly applied horn lessons for music majors, minors, and non‑majors at all proficiency levels.
  • Mentor and advise students regarding academic progress, performance development, and professional goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the horn studio professor and music faculty.
  • Co‑direct horn chamber ensembles
  • Lead Freshman Warm‑Up class
  • Co‑teach horn masterclasses
  • Teach one 8‑week Horn Methods course as assigned.
  • Maintain scheduled Student Success hours in accordance with university policies.
  • Perform additional instructional or service duties as assigned.
