About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting an Administrative Assistant 3 for the College of Business. This position will provide administrative support to the Chair, faculty, and students of the Accounting and Information Systems departments. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following established guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional/Academic Program Support: Provide information to students on processes, forms, prerequisites, and deadlines. Monitor class section enrollment numbers, advise faculty on status, coordinate student add/drop processes, and enter finalized course schedules into MyNevada.
  • Faculty and Chair Support: Assist with classroom materials, book rooms for meetings, handle travel arrangements, collect and submit textbook orders, maintain office supplies, and coordinate events.
  • Fiscal Responsibilities: Assist the Chair in managing department budgets and accounts, monitor status, provide projections and updates to faculty and chair, initiate financial transactions and reconcile.
  • Human Resources Support: Prepare transaction documents for LOAs and student employees, serve as search coordinator for all department recruitments, maintain updated records as needed.
  • General Office Duties: Answer phones, assist guests, distribute mail, maintain office supplies, perform data entry tasks, work effectively on a college administrative team that serves all departments.
