The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) advances the discovery and sharing of scientific knowledge to benefit us all. As a biomedical research organization and philanthropy, HHMI supports a vibrant community of academic researchers, educators, students, and professionals. Together, we’re unlocking the fundamentals of biology and building an open, inclusive future for science. We currently have an opening for an Administrative Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Evan Eichler at the University of Washington School of Medicine. The Eichler lab is interested in the disease and evolutionary impact of gene duplication and other complex forms of human structural variation. Specifically, they apply advanced genome sequencing methods to understand how segmental duplications give rise to new genes and recurrent rearrangements associated with the neurodevelopmental delay, including autism. More information can be found on the lab website. This role is an integral part of the lab and will be responsible for supporting the Investigator and lab members with scheduling, travel logistics, lab events, and correspondence. Strong candidates will have prior experience managing and coordinating administrative responsibilities across a variety of mediums. This opportunity is perfect for those hoping to work as part of a team to advance scientific research on autism and human evolution in a challenging, intellectual environment, run by dedicated scientists and lab members who are passionate about their work. This in-person role is flexible to accommodate candidates who want to work a full-time (40 hours/week) or a part-time schedule. For consideration for this position, please apply directly to this job posting through Workday – do not contact the lab directly. Please be sure to include 1) a cover letter, and 2) three professional references with contact information as part of your application. This is not a virtual position and requires in-person interaction with the research team. What we provide: Joining an energetic, intellectually vibrant, and collegial lab team. Opportunities to learn, grow as an administrative professional, and be mentored. Joining the vibrant University of Washington research community. A competitive compensation package with comprehensive health and wellness benefits. Access to HHMI’s on-demand learning and skill-building content.
