About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Located in beautiful Asheville, NC, Craggy Correctional Center is a minimum and medium custody facility for male offenders. Positions in this class are characterized by their performance of a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties. Positions require knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, composition of memos and letters, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting, referring, assisting visitors, clients, staff, and others, mail distribution, and photocopying. Positions may serve as the primary staff assistant to a department or program manager

Requirements

  • Documented knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suites
  • Must have knowledge to utilize office equipment and other technology (software and systems) to meet work needs.
  • Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
