About The Position

The Division of Emergency Management is hiring an Administrative Supervisor that provides direct supervision to the State and Local Plans Unit staff that provides administrative support to the Division of Emergency Management’s business operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Assures compliance with state, federal regulations, policies & standards associated with the development of state emergency plans and procedures. Responsible for conducting local and state planning. Update process through multi-agency workgroups and planning seminars as assigned. Assist with preparing the division's planning budget and reporting progress for federal grants provided in the planning branch. Keeps abreast of pertinent regulations within the state and federal government. Analyzes section operations and recommends policy and procedure changes. Prepares and delivers oral and written communications to emergency management providers, general public, local's, state and federal officials as well as other on all activities of the section as requested and as required. Provides direct supervision of staff within the section. Review and approve leave requests, timesheets and conducts performance evaluations. Counsels employees on work-related problems. Recommends salary increases and promotions. Recommends training for employees as needed. Supports and fills a role within the State Emergency Operations Center during activation, exercises or planning activations. Assists when requested with development and maintenance of guidelines and procedures for the Commonwealth Emergency Operations Center.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional administrative experience.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
