Reporting to and working under the general supervision of the department chair in Women’s, Gender, and Queer Studies, this position provides full administrative and clerical support to faculty, staff, and students; it also engages with the general public on behalf of the department, as needed. The incumbent is responsible for a variety of administrative and specialized office functions to support the department/programs. This position requires a detailed understanding of numerous policies and procedures in the Department, College, and University. Relatedly, because the department chair position comes up for reappointment every three years, the person in this position provides continuity for these various complex departmental operations, as well as college and university processes and policies. The Women’s Gender & Queer Studies (WGQS) Department, in the College of Liberal Arts (CLA), administers two minors, in Queer Studies (QS) and Women’s & Gender Studies (WGS). In addition to supporting approximately 60 minors across both programs from majors across the university, most WGQS courses also satisfy general education, United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP), and/or breadth requirements for Cal Poly students. The department also has a proposal for a new BA program under review.
