OUR STORY THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE The Chicago Cubs franchise, a charter member of Major League Baseball’s National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family assumed ownership of the Chicago Cubs and established three main goals for the organization: Win the World Series, Preserve and Improve Wrigley Field, and Be a Good Neighbor. HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE The Specialist, Construction and Planning is responsible for providing dedicated administrative, invoicing, and logistical support for construction and facilities projects at Wrigley Field and the surrounding campus. This role ensures communication and documentation flow between the on-site contractors and vendors and the internal Cubs project managers. The position is structured to be approximately 60%-70% focused on administrative and project lifecycle management and 30%-40% focused on necessary on-site coordination and support.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree from an accredited college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and 2 years of related experience in building facilities maintenance or construction.
  • Proficient knowledge of construction drawings.
  • Experience with invoicing and billing systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, including Microsoft Project
  • Able to perform the following physical tasks: bend, squat, kneel, twist, climb flights of stairs, walk on uneven ground, walk/run up and down ramps, walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in-office 4-5 days per week during regular business hours
  • Ability to occasionally work off-business hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction technology systems such as Asset Essentials, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • Project estimation experience.
  • Working knowledge of green building practices.
  • General repair and maintenance (R&M) knowledge and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative & Project Lifecycle Management: (60-70%) Process all capital project invoices, maintain cost records, and assist in tracking budget proposals against actual expenditures and projections.
  • Liaise with vendors on regular invoice schedules and outstanding billing.
  • Organize project documentation, correspondence, submittals, and closeout materials.
  • Manage logistical aspects of large-scale procurement, including compiling vendor quotes, tracking purchase orders, and coordinating purchase receival.
  • Compile quote information to contribute to preliminary budget proposals and cost projections.
  • Reconcile estimated costs against actual invoices.
  • On-Site Coordination & Logistical Support: (30-40%) Coordinate on-site visits and manage information flow between on-site vendors and project managers.
  • Interpret construction drawings and plans to facilitate clear and concise communication between the design team and all project stakeholders during site visits.
  • Attend on-site planning meetings and contractor walk-throughs to gather progress updates and communicate project needs.
