About The Position

The Per Diem Administrator on Duty (AOD) is responsible for supporting health, safety, and overall functioning of the residential program during assigned shifts. This includes monitoring program delivery, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and maintaining professional standards of care. While not a supervisory role, the per diem AOD is expected to provide on-the-ground support to direct care staff, assist in resolving issues that arise during the shift, and escalate concerns appropriately. In the absence of full-time leadership (e.g., Assistant Residential Directors or Residential Director), the AOD serves as the point person for coordination and communication. This position plays a key role in maintaining continuity of care and ensuring youth and staff safety during non-standard hours, weekends or holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 5+ years working in a Residential Treatment Center or related service.
  • A safe driving record as determined by NYS Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, school personnel, and external agencies.
  • Ability to proficiently multitask and successfully balance multiple projects.
  • Empathy, flexibility, and a commitment to providing high-quality care and support.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or developmental disabilities in a residential, educational, or therapeutic setting.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic environment for all students.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi- lingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain communication with cottage staff and monitor staff and resident locations off/on grounds.
  • Ensure effective communication of priority information to all necessary staff and shifts.
  • Obtain census information on each shift and record in the Communication logbook.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records, files and correspondence; Complete necessary documentation (both hand-written and computer based/data entry) in a timely, accurate, complete, and legible manner. May include, but not limited to notations in the logbook, AOD location board, incident reports, sign-in sheets, and any other forms used or as directed by your supervisor.
  • Set and contribute to a safe, dignified, orderly atmosphere by enforcing program rules, policies, and procedures.
  • At all times model the appropriate dress, speech, and behavior for residents. This includes dressing professionally or in designated work uniforms/dress code if prescribed.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with adolescents and staff; Respond to all requests in a professional and courteous manner; Observe and adhere to adolescent confidentiality standards.
  • Maintain and promote a cooperative, harmonious, teamwork environment within the workplace. Maintain and promote an atmosphere of dignity and respect in line with the philosophy and policies of Rising Ground.
  • Follow the OOP/AWOL policy, ensuring missing person protocol and internal/external communications as delineated.
  • Follow overstayed home visit protocol, notifying family members and relevant staff of the child’s location/situation.
  • Adhere to all protocols including High-Risk protocol, missing persons, etc.
  • Monitor staffing on campus, verifying time & attendance and ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Monitor staff sign in/out process and initial for verification.
  • Ensure adequate staffing throughout the cottages, channeling staff where needed on their respective shifts or utilize the per-diem lists to call for additional support.
  • Provide leadership during crisis and ensure proper response, communication and documentation.
  • Respond to crisis situations providing leadership and direction to staff. This includes deploying staff as appropriate, helping to ensure medical/clinical support during/after restraints and reviewing written documentation of incidents when appropriate.
  • Report all critical events or reportable incidents (as defined by policy) to the Program and Assistant Residential Director(s). Responsible for weekend 24-hr reporting to OCFS.
  • Primary liaison to police/fire and neighborhood/community residents.
  • Answer telephones and follow through on requests/issues with accurate record keeping (logbooks).
  • Respond to neighborhood and community calls/concerns as needed.
  • Document all missing person’s report information in appropriate logbooks
  • Organize and arrange all necessary transportation.
  • Prioritize scheduled appointments and immediate needs for transportation of youth.
  • Coordinate with Medical and Education departments to arrange for drivers and vehicles to ensure program needs are met.
  • Utilize proper vehicle logs to provide oversight of vehicle use, cleanliness and damage.
  • Receive, sort and distribute mail to different departments, ensuring efficient communication.
  • Organizing incoming and outgoing mail and ensuring prompt delivery to the intended recipients.
  • Provide on-call support for the Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP) as needed, ensuring the well-being of residents and addressing any immediate issues or concerns.
  • Document all activities, incidents, and events related to the Supervised Independent Living Program during the on-call shift, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Collaborate with SILP staff to address resident needs, enforce program guidelines, and support the overall objectives of the program.
  • Assist with coordinating emergency responses and follow-up actions related to SILP as required.
  • Review and report on the effectiveness of SILP procedures, making recommendations for improvements as necessary.
