About The Position

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. This position provides comprehensive student services support for graduate certificate and non-degree graduate students throughout the full student lifecycle, from application and admission through certificate completion. Responsibilities include reviewing and processing admissions applications and supporting materials, tracking student progression and program milestones, evaluating candidates for certificate completion, and ensuring compliance with Graduate School policies, University timelines, FERPA regulations, and confidentiality requirements. Serving as the primary point of contact for prospective and enrolled graduate certificate and non-degree graduate students, this position manages well over 1,200 applications per admissions cycle and supports hundreds of enrolled students. The role requires a strong working knowledge of Graduate School and University policies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to independently analyze and resolve a wide range of student services issues. This position collaborates closely with central campus partners, including the Office of the University Registrar, Information Technology Services, and the Cashier’s Office, and contributes subject-matter expertise to campuswide initiatives such as the multiyear degree audit and program milestones project. The position also serves as The Graduate School’s liaison for North Carolina residency for tuition purposes for graduate certificate and non-degree graduate students. Responsibilities include managing residency-related inquiries, resolving straightforward cases, providing feedback on policies and processes, assisting with the development of Graduate School procedures, and supporting best-practice strategies for academic programs and campus partners. This position is part of the Admissions and Enrolled Student Services team and reports to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrolled Student Services.
