About The Position

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applicants for an admissions officers. Under the supervision of the Admissions Director and other directors, the Admissions Officer is responsible for the recruitment and admissions activities for the Corps of Cadets. Responsibilities include: Counseling and advising prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, faculty, staff and other members of the college community regarding the institution, admissions and matriculation policies and procedures and the college selection process. Manages a geographic territory throughout the applicant process from prospect to matriculation. Leads recruitment of students through multiple channels that include; high school visits, college fairs, on-campus presentations, and virtual visits. Demonstrate expert level understanding of The Citadel admissions and financial aid processes. Works in conjunction with the staff to support other aspects of the recruitment process such as daily visits, social media, operations, or other duties assigned by the Director of Admissions that align with your skills. The Citadel, also known as the Military College of South Carolina, is a public senior military college located in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded in 1842, The Citadel has a rich history and educational reputation. With our current location on the banks of the Ashley River in downtown Charleston, you are close to great restaurants, shopping and much more. There are about 2,300 undergraduate students who make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Out of the Corps of Cadets, 1 out of 3 graduates earn a military commission. Students can choose from 31 Majors, 57 Minors, pre-health professions, and pre-law (a concentration in political science). The 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio guarantees students a quality education. Another 1,000 students attend the Graduate College, evening and online programs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or have obtained one by the start of employment.
  • The ability to work collegiality within the admissions office is critical.
  • Position requires strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Must possess organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.

Nice To Haves

  • An understanding of marketing, admissions, or experience working with high school/college students is desired but not required.
  • An understanding of the Citadel is a plus.
  • Experience using an admissions related CRM such as Slate or Ellucian Banner in a higher education setting supporting students and staff.
