The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor is responsible for developing instruction to adult learners in foundational academic skills, including reading, writing, and mathematics. The instructor supports students in achieving educational goals such as educational gains, GED attainment, workforce readiness, and personal development. This position is also responsible for developing classroom lessons and providing additional individualized academic support to students in Congreso outside of normal classroom hours. The ABE Instructor is responsible for connecting with Congreso’s Housing and other Divisions to enroll new learners into the ABE classes. This position is tasked with strengthening core academic skills so they can successfully transition into GED preparation classes and ultimately earn their GED or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. This position collaborates with the Adult Education Manager and other agency leadership to develop and refine curriculum and strategize to improve program performance to achieve outcomes. This role also works closely with the Adult Education Services team to administer GED practice exams and use those results to determine student readiness for referral to GED‑level instruction. Finally, this position keeps daily attendance records for students and inputs this data into the funder’s and Congreso’s databases. This position reports to the Manager of Adult Education Initiatives. This is an ONSITE position.
