This position will be a lead developer within our IT Cloud Center of Excellence team, helping to architect, deliver and support new and existing cloud platforms across all BU’s. Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor’s with 6+ years relevant experience or associate’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years relevant experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in: Design, manage, and develop information systems.
  • System analysis, documentation and designing technical specifications of the processes.
  • Cloud service and tenant design and implementation.
  • Proven leadership in enterprise cloud strategy, governance, and solution delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code, scripting, and CI/CD tools.
  • Designing and implementing automated configuration management, provisioning, and application deployment across hybrid environments.
  • Develop migration plans, scripts, and automation tools to streamline repository transfers and configuration.
  • Excellent knowledge in project methodologies like Agile, Scrum, Waterfall.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates creativity in solving problems or generating improvement ideas and works well with team members.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across an organization.
  • Experience with multi-cloud strategy and vendor management.
  • Lead the end-to-end migration of repositories, pipelines, and integrations from Bitbucket and other version control systems to GitHub Enterprise.
  • Establish governance policies including branching strategies, pull request workflows, and code review standards.
  • Work with project managers to ensure migration timelines and milestones are met.
  • Communicate progress and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Track cloud usage and spending across platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
  • Identify underutilized resources and recommend cost-saving actions.
  • Implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and privileged access management.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and chargeback/show back models.
  • Design and enforce identity federation and single sign-on (SSO) across cloud platforms.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer sciences or MIS.
  • Integration experience with:
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Azure Dev/Ops
  • GitHub Enterprise for source control and CI/CD workflows
  • Infrastructure-as-Code platforms such as HashiCorp Terraform
  • Infrastructure Provisioning and Configuration Management using Red Hat Ansible
  • Bitbucket and other version control systems
  • Apptio for financial transparency and operational insights into IT and cloud services
  • DevSecops tools such as Synk to find and fix vulnerabilities in the code, open-source dependencies and infrastructure as code
  • Evaluate, validate and manage multiple tools and extensions in both GITHUB and Azure Devops
  • Cloud deployments (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
  • Cloud development coding, services, and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train technical teams and peers on cloud technologies and best practices, including, but not limited to, optimized design, automation, and deploying code using industry best practices and Valmont standards.
  • Design, Coordinate, Direct, and Curate complex systems involving multiple platforms and technologies, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to continuously improve Valmont’s cloud architecture and development practices.
  • Oversee cloud operations and governance across all Valmont tenants and vendors including Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, HashiCorp (Terraform), and Red Hat (Ansible)ensuring compliance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Establish and maintain standards for Source Control repositories and development tools across Valmont’s global enterprise.
  • Architect and manage systems that enable development teams to build, test, and deploy code using CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
  • Lead prioritization and delivery of system enhancements, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex problems and incidents across cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand functional requirements and advise on optimal cloud-native or hybrid solutions.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and guide development teams on necessary customizations.
  • Evangelize cloud software development best practices across all business units, fostering consistency and innovation.
  • Document and validate requirements in partnership with business users and sponsors.
  • Align cloud strategy with Valmont’s strategic business drivers to support growth and innovation.
  • Assess risks and proactively inform stakeholders of potential impacts to timelines or scope.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and operational documentation.
  • Develop and enforce cloud security policies, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance controls.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage, implementing cost-saving strategies and performance improvements.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for cloud-hosted systems.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between infrastructure, operations, security, application development, and business teams.
  • Lead cloud readiness assessments and migration planning for legacy systems.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve deployment consistency.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and contract negotiations for cloud services and tools.
  • Stay current with cloud computing innovations and industry trends, recommending adoption of new technologies.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging Azure services and technologies to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Work on cost optimization strategies and helps justify cloud investments.
  • Provide real-time visibility into cloud consumption and design more efficient systems.
  • Facilitate collaboration between technical and financial teams, ensuring cloud solutions are both effective and economical.
  • Lead, Coordinate, Direct, and Evaluate cloud solutions hosted by Valmont across all business units, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals.
  • Guide prioritization and delivery of enhancements, defect resolution, and continuous integration efforts.
  • Enable and guide teams in identifying, fixing, and reviewing defects, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Work with project managers to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Advise on solution design that minimizes custom code and leverages platform capabilities effectively.
  • Assess and communicate risks that may impact project timelines, budgets, or system integrity.
