About the position

This is a Direct Hire Authority job opportunity announcement for positions eligible to be filled through the Office of Personnel Management's delegated Direct Hire Authority (DHA). The DHA has been authorized by the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and Part 337, Subpart B, Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations. If filled utilizing DHA, all applicants who meet the basic qualification requirements will be forwarded to the Selecting Official for consideration. The 'rule of three,' Veteran's preference, and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply to the Direct Hire process. Indian Preference does apply. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Requirements

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada.
  • Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States.
  • Licensure: Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Graduate Training: At least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program.
  • For GS-13: 3 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
  • For GS-14: 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
  • For GS-15: 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.
  • Board Certification: Board Certified in the physician's specialty by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is a condition of employment.
