Cleveland Clinic’s Integrative Hospital Care Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant or Acute Care certified Nurse Practitioner for a full-time Intensivist position in the Medical and Cardiac Intensive Care Units. This position is primarily based at Fairview Hospital and includes scheduled rotations at Hillcrest Hospital and Main Campus. In addition to core MICU and CICU responsibilities, the provider will also support the Main Campus Sepsis Early Response Team. The APP will provide comprehensive care to adults with critical, life-threatening illness in an intensive care setting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient evaluation and management, as well as urgent procedures such as airway and ventilator management, central and arterial line placement, difficult peripheral IV access, and chest tube insertion. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts and includes rotating nights, weekends, and holidays. Prior experience is preferred. A generous sign-on bonus is available for external candidates with at least three years of APRN or PA experience. APRN: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with a physician according to a standard care arrangement and specialty certification. PA: Nationally certified licensed healthcare provider who provides primary and or specialty medical care (the practice of medicine) in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions with the collaboration agreement of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730). Performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patient's current health status. Develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries. This medical care may be in a variety of clinical settings. PA's are privileged by the Board of Governors. PA's in this role provide advanced care to patients within any setting in which patients have complex, acute, critical and chronic health conditions. Practices in any setting in which patients require complex monitoring and therapies and high intensity medical/surgical interventions and/or continuous vigilance within the range of high-acuity care.
